BitBox Reveals Flexible PCBs

Throughout its lifetime, BitBox has designed and manufactured many different types of printed circuit boards. Recently the manufacturing team has produced one of its thinnest, most flexible PCBs yet.

BitBox designs and manufactures a range of electronics devices, often for use in industrial environments. One client, an established UK provider of industrial systems, came to BitBox to have a complete product designed and manufactured. As a part of this, the system requires a touch interface for a display panel that controls the system. Because of the conditions of use, the panel needed to meet some very specific requirements. Users, themselves engineers, would need to to clearly see the commands and, therefore, the switches in potentially low-light environments. The panels would be located in industrial settings where they might be exposed to heat, water and some degree of physical contact.

To protect the integrity of the system, BitBox developed the control panel to take advantage of an ultra-thin, flexible PCB that is housed in a secure and robust, IP rated unit. This allows it to function in the harsh environments that our client’s users demand. As a result, this is one of the thinnest PCBs that we have created.
